Opening gap.
As you may know, I always close any open positions on Friday afternoon. The reason being to avoid weekend risk, today was a very good example of why this is a good idea. The outbreak of war in the middle east caused the JPY to open with a gap higher. This would have stopped out any JPY short trades held over the weekend. Not only stopped them out, but the price would have most likely opened much below any stop losses, which could have cost a large chunk of the account. So, although weekend news is rare, it's always a good decision to close trades on a Friday afternoon.
