Friday 4 September: Bumper NFP data.
I was wondering how long it would take for the the president to comment on interest rates. Given how vocal he was during chair Powell's tenure, I'm surprised he's taken so long to tell Mr Warsh that rates should be lower.
I find the timing a little strange given the bumper NFP data. Ordinarily, I expect the USD would fly following such a hot number. But the strength hasn't kicked on, maybe the president's words took the sting out of the dollar.
Soft jobs data from Canada clashes with the fairly hawkish BOC narrative. Another example of being 'stuck in the middle' this week.
If anything, I think the hot NFP number keeps the narrative focused on interest rates. Which for me, keeps the focus on CHF short trades. I'm just doubtful there is enough juice left in the tank for a CHF short on this Friday afternoon.
So I'll close the book and reassess next week.
*Please note, I'll will be in Croatia next week for my soon to be sister in law's wedding. I will be attempting to trade. But please forgive me if my timings are a little sparodic.
Wishing you a lovely weekend.
